Welcome to Personal Iconography. I’m Hannah Sheehan, and I’ll be your guide on this process. This is a course I’ve wanted to make for a very long time, and I’m so glad you’re joining me.

Iconography and symbolism are deeply important elements of art. Some works are so saturated with symbols that their meaning is still a topic of debate centuries later.

In this course we’ll cover taking an object that resonates with you, and translating it through sketch and contour drawings, into a two-dimensional image that you can use in your art over and over.

But there’s no reason to stop at just one symbol. This is a process you can repeat to build a library of icons that can act as a sort of visual shorthand in your work. Those symbols can be tied to your mood, a particular person in your life, or any other meaning with which you choose to imbue them.

Without further ado, let’s jump in.
